Two supporters of a UPFA Provincial Council candidate died when the
lorry in which they were travelling met with an accident this afternoon.The 2 victims aged 39 and 35 and another 8 persons who travelled in the lorry were supporters of Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Deputy Chairman and PC candidate Samu Ariyawansa.
At the time of the accident, the ill fated lorry had been driven with the revellers in a race with another vehicle which also carried supporters of a rival candidate at Ova Kanda in Rathgama.
Karapitiya Hospital Director Dr. Shelton Perera said that the condition of two injured persons was critical.

However the driver of the ill fated lorry who was believed to be drunk and had fled the area.
Rathgama Police told our news team that investigations have been initiated to arrest the driver.
